Who we are

ANBA (Australian National Buyers Association) connects property buyers with personally vetted, licensed buyer's agents across Australia. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to ANBA, and “you” refers to anyone who visits this website or asks us to match them with a buyer's agent.

We are the entity responsible for handling the personal information described below. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, you can reach us through the contact form on this website.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information we collect through this website, when you enquire with us, and when we match you with a buyer's agent. It does not cover the separate privacy practices of the buyer's agents we introduce you to, or any third-party websites we link to. Those parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.

Personal information we collect

We only collect the personal information we reasonably need to match you with a suitable buyer's agent and to operate our service. Depending on how you use the site, this may include:

  • Identity and contact details, such as your name, email address and phone number.
  • Property goals and circumstances, including your budget, preferred locations, timeline, and the type of purchase you are planning (for example, first home, investment, SMSF or commercial).
  • The content of any messages, enquiries or responses you choose to share with us.
  • Technical and usage data collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring pages, and the pages you view on our site.

Sensitive information

We do not seek to collect sensitive information (such as health, racial or political information) as part of our service. Please do not send us sensitive information unless it is necessary, and only where you consent to us handling it for the purpose you provide it.

How we collect your information

We collect most information directly from you, for example when you complete the contact form, respond to our questions, or otherwise communicate with us.

We also collect some information automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you use the site. In limited cases, we may receive information from a buyer's agent in our network in connection with an introduction we have made for you.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Understand your situation and match you with the buyer's agent in our network who best fits your needs.
  • Respond to your enquiries and communicate with you about your match.
  • Operate, maintain, secure and improve our website and service.
  • Comply with our legal obligations and protect our legal rights.

Direct marketing

We do not use your information for unrelated marketing without your consent. If we ever send you optional updates, every message will include a simple way to opt out, and you can also ask us to stop at any time through the contact form.

When we share your information

When we match you with a buyer's agent, we share the relevant details you have provided so that agent can assist you. We choose that agent carefully from our vetted network.

We may also disclose information to trusted service providers who help us run our website and service (for example, hosting, email delivery and analytics providers), under appropriate confidentiality obligations, and where we are required or authorised to do so by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we rely on may store or process information on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles and remains appropriately protected.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working smoothly, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use it so we can improve it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not function as intended if you do.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include secure storage and limited, role-based access controls. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data.

How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as required by law. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you at any time. To make a request, or if you have a privacy concern, please contact us through the contact form on this website. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your request, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Children's privacy

Our service is intended for adults who are able to enter into a property transaction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Contact us

If you have any questions, requests or concerns about this policy or your personal information, please get in touch through the contact form on this website and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
